Emirates UK Export Growth Takes Off In 2026

Emirates SkyCargo has reported strong growth in UK export volumes as demand increases for international shipments of aerospace parts, technology equipment, medicines, and premium food products.

The Dubai-based airline recorded an 11 percent year-on-year increase in UK export cargo volumes during the year ending March, reaching 57,000 tonnes. The positive trend continued into 2026, with export volumes between April and June rising by 7 percent compared with the same period last year.

Emirates SkyCargo currently provides widebody cargo services through more than 140 weekly flights from eight UK airports. These include Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Newcastle, and Stansted.

The airline said growth has been especially strong in three major areas: aerospace and advanced technology, life sciences, and perishable goods.

The aerospace and technology sector has become a key driver of export growth. Between January and June, Emirates transported more than 570 tonnes of aircraft parts and aerospace components from the UK to markets across Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East.

During the same period, cargo volumes in the aerospace and engineering sector increased by more than 300 percent compared with the previous year.

Emirates also highlighted rising demand for high-value technology equipment. The airline has transported important infrastructure products, including data centre equipment and server racks, from UK manufacturers to international markets.

Much of this cargo originates from major manufacturing and engineering centers in Manchester and London. These regions have developed strong technology and industrial sectors that rely on efficient global supply chains.

The pharmaceutical sector has also contributed to Emirates' cargo growth. During the first half of 2026, the airline carried more than 1,600 tonnes of pharmaceutical products from the UK.

The carrier also transported more than 26 tonnes of clinical trial medicines during the same period. These shipments require careful handling and reliable transport systems to protect sensitive medical products.

Newcastle has become an important regional gateway for pharmaceutical exports due to its connection with the Northeast's growing life sciences industry.

Emirates said its cargo network helps pharmaceutical companies reach international markets while maintaining strict transport standards for medical products.

Food exports have also played a major role in the airline's UK cargo operations. Emirates supported the global distribution of Scottish seafood products, including 1,500 tonnes of Scottish shellfish and more than 1,200 tonnes of smoked salmon.

The airline explained that much of the seafood is transported directly from Glasgow and Edinburgh. This allows exporters to deliver fresh products to international customers more quickly.

The demand for premium British food products has continued to grow in overseas markets, creating new opportunities for UK producers.

During the first six months of 2026, Emirates transported more than 1,000 tonnes of food products from the UK to the United Arab Emirates. The volume was equal to around 10 fully loaded Boeing 777 freighter aircraft.

The shipments included popular British products such as strawberries and cheese. Emirates carried more than 250 tonnes of strawberries and over 150 tonnes of cheese to Dubai during the period.

The airline said the results demonstrate the importance of air cargo connections in supporting UK businesses that depend on international trade.

Strong export performance across multiple industries shows growing demand for reliable global logistics networks. Emirates believes its extensive UK flight network provides businesses with access to major markets around the world.

As international trade continues to expand, the carrier expects demand for specialist cargo services to remain strong. Growth in technology, healthcare, aerospace, and food exports is likely to continue supporting the UK's position in global supply chains.
