Findhorn, Moray – The vibrant Findhorn Eco-Village is set to host the RISE Festival Weekend, a three-day celebration of world culture and contemporary dance, from Friday, May 29 to Sunday, May 31. This unique festival will feature a compelling mix of professional performances from acclaimed international artists alongside engaging workshops designed for public participation. Tickets are now available for this highly anticipated event, which promises to transform the picturesque Moray landscape into a hub of artistic expression and cultural exchange. The festival is a must-attend for dance enthusiasts and those looking to experience global artistry in a stunning Scottish setting.
At the heart of this year’s RISE Festival is the powerful theme, ‘Indigenous Voices’. This focus aims to honour and celebrate the creativity of First Nations artists and explore the profound connections between land, body, and storytelling. A highlight of the weekend will be "Guuranda X Rise," a captivating show by award-winning Australian choreographer Jacob Boehme. This performance will uniquely blend international talent with local Scottish artistry, featuring singers from the Sing Moray community choir and locally-based artist Lynda Buchan, creating a truly collaborative and immersive cultural experience for attendees.
Karl-Jay Lewin, creative director of Dance North Scotland, the Findhorn-based organization behind the festival, emphasized the significance of the theme. "Global Indigenous Voices at RISE 2026 is an honouring and celebration of First Nations creativity and the powerful connections between land, body and story," Lewin stated. He added, "We are deeply privileged to welcome to Scotland artists whose work invites us to listen deeply, share space and reflect on our relationships with place and each other." This sentiment underscores the festival's ambition to foster understanding, dialogue, and appreciation for diverse cultural narratives through the universal language of dance.
The three-day RISE Festival Weekend is also an integral part of a broader programme of dance events presented by Dance North Scotland, spanning from Saturday, May 23, to Saturday, June 6. This extensive program includes performances at Eden Court in Inverness, as well as venues in Wick and Glasgow, extending the reach of contemporary dance across Scotland. Attendees can secure three-day passes for the entire RISE Festival Weekend, or purchase individual tickets and access detailed information for specific shows. All ticketing information and event specifics are available online, inviting everyone to partake in this extraordinary cultural journey.
